Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing the right groomer for your pet is an important decision, and it’s completely natural to have questions before booking. Below are some of the questions I’m most often asked about dog grooming, cat grooming, teeth cleaning and dog training. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to get in touch—I’ll be happy to help.

Which areas do you cover?

I provide mobile dog grooming throughout Dunfermline and the surrounding areas, including Rosyth, Dalgety Bay, Inverkeithing, Crossford, Crossgates, Cowdenbeath, Cairneyhill and nearby villages. I also offer one-to-one dog training across Fife.

What are the benefits of mobile dog grooming?

Mobile dog grooming allows your dog to be groomed in a calm, fully equipped salon right outside your home. There are no stressful car journeys, no busy waiting rooms and no unfamiliar dogs around them. Many dogs, particularly those who are nervous or elderly, find this a much more relaxed experience than visiting a traditional salon.

My dog is nervous. Can you still groom them?

Absolutely. In fact, many of the dogs I work with are anxious, sensitive or have had difficult grooming experiences in the past. Every appointment is carried out on a one-to-one basis, and I always work at your dog’s pace. Building trust is far more important than rushing through a groom.

How often should my dog be groomed?

Every dog is different, but most dogs benefit from professional grooming every 6 to 8 weeks. Dogs with curly or continuously growing coats, such as Cockapoos, Cavapoos and Poodles, often require more regular appointments to prevent matting and keep their coats healthy.

What happens if my dog’s coat is badly matted?

If your dog’s coat has become matted, I’ll assess it before we begin and explain the options available. In some cases, clipping the coat short is the kindest and safest choice, as brushing out severe matting can be uncomfortable and stressful for your dog. My priority will always be your pet’s welfare.

Can you groom puppies?

Yes. Introducing puppies to grooming at a young age helps them become familiar with being handled, brushed and groomed. Puppy appointments are designed to be positive, gentle experiences that build confidence for future visits.

Do you groom cats?

Yes. I offer gentle cat grooming for long-haired and short-haired cats, including full grooms, lion clips, de-matting, hygiene trims and nail clipping. Every appointment is carried out with patience and your cat’s comfort as the priority.

Do you offer ultrasonic teeth cleaning?

Yes. I provide Emmi-Pet ultrasonic teeth cleaning, a gentle, non-invasive treatment that helps reduce plaque and bacteria while supporting healthier teeth and gums. It’s a quiet treatment that many dogs tolerate well and can often be combined with a grooming appointment.

Will ultrasonic teeth cleaning replace my vet?

No. Ultrasonic teeth cleaning is designed to support your dog’s ongoing oral hygiene and is not a replacement for veterinary dental treatment. If I notice anything concerning during your appointment, I’ll always recommend that you seek advice from your vet.

What dog training do you offer?

I provide one-to-one dog training across Fife, helping owners with everything from puppy foundations and lead walking to recall, confidence building and general behaviour. Every session is tailored to you and your dog’s individual needs.

How long does a grooming appointment take?

The length of an appointment depends on your dog’s size, breed, coat condition and the service they’ve booked. I’ll always allow enough time to groom your pet properly without rushing, ensuring they remain comfortable throughout.

Do I need to stay at home during the appointment?

As the grooming salon is parked outside your home, many owners choose to remain indoors while their pet is being groomed. I’ll discuss any important information with you before and after the appointment, and you’re welcome to ask questions at any stage.

How do I book an appointment?

Booking is simple. You can get in touch using the contact form on the website, call me directly or use the online booking system. If you’re unsure which service is most suitable for your pet, I’ll be happy to help you choose the right option.

Still Have a Question?

If there’s anything else you’d like to know, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’m always happy to answer your questions and help you decide which service is right for your pet.
